Leadership, like distance running, is mostly what you do when no one is watching. The early alarm. The mile after the one you wanted to stop. The decision to do the boring thing well, again.

The long run is a rehearsal for hard weeks. It teaches patience under load, attention to the small signals, and the humility to back off before the body — or the team — breaks.

Bring the long run to the office. Lead at conversational pace. Save the surges for when they matter.
